Anchor of Love Hospice

Pain & Symptom Management

Relief from pain, breathlessness, nausea, agitation and the other symptoms that take away quality of life.

Pain & Symptom Management

Comfort is the goal of hospice care, and symptom control is how it is achieved. Our clinical team assesses pain and other distressing symptoms at every visit and adjusts treatment until your loved one is comfortable.

Pain is not something to be endured or "saved up for later." If your loved one is uncomfortable between visits, call us — that is what the on-call nurse is for.

What this includes

  • Regular assessment of pain and its effect on daily life
  • Management of breathlessness, nausea, constipation and anxiety
  • Treatment of restlessness and agitation
  • Medication adjusted promptly rather than at the next scheduled visit
  • Non-medication comfort measures, including positioning and oxygen
